For the July Trekker Huell Howser trip, July 18, we may have an opportunity to take a free tour of the Metropolitan Water District Weymouth Water Treatment in La Verne.  It has been almost impossible to have any kind of tour after 9 11, but now our request has at least asked us for a date.  If any of you are interested and can commit to July 18 will you please rsvp to Kiam?

General Discussion / Honoring Frank LLoyd Wright
« Last post by jyfcos2@gmail.com on June 17, 2017, 07:33:17 PM »
Thursday's urban adventure was in honor of Wright's 150th birthday.  We toured no fewer than 5 Wright homes in the Pasadena and Hollywood hills.  Researched and mapped out by lunch guru Marguerite and driving guru Michael, the day proved quite an accomplishment!   Here's the story and pictures:

p.s.  I would love to add the other pictures that were taken that day!

Want to go cruising inside the Huntington Harbor ?.
It is a huge area with many canals and beautiful houses that we can only dream.
We are renting a 12 passenger electric boat for $100/hr or $75 for 8 persons one.
I need a FIRM COMMITMENT. If you have to cancel and I or you can't find substitute, you are  responsible.
We'll probably need 2 or 3 hr max, so the cost can be up to $25 per person.

Meet at #4 Bank of America ( Wheeler & Foothill in La Verne ).
  8:30 am to carpool

General Discussion / Sad news - a member found dead on a trail.

From Susan Taj:
I have very bad news.
You may have met Marilyn but she only hiked a few times with our group. She was signed up as a Trail Trekker though.
Her and her sister and her sisters 15 year old daughter went camping in Trinity Alps wilderness area last week. They had not been seen since June 7th. Their campground spot had everything they brought and had been left undisturbed.
The last anyone had seen them was that day and by a KOA Campground employee who gave them ideas about 5 different hikes they could take. Marilyn was a very inexperienced hiker. Wore only shorts. Never took water.
After 5 days missing with no word from them they finally sent a search and rescue team and found their car at 3am this morning and later found all three people. Marilyn and her sister didn't make it. Trinity, Linda's daughter, is in critical condition in the hospital.
I will let you know more as I find out. Please pray for their souls and for Trinity to recover.
